Baseball, the American pastime, has always been one of the most challenging sports in which to participate. One must have excellent hand eye coordination, quick feet, great reflexes, and the ability to remain focus and attentive at all times. With this in mind and the World Series around the corner, the students of Ministry Development thought it best to challenge all of the students of Valley Christian through God’s word by calling them to…STEP UP TO THE PLATE! Here are the next four chapels which we will focus on this particular theme by discussing the following:

Oct. 1st – Approaching the Plate

We must have a game plan to life before we are in the heat of the moment. We must plan, prepare, and be mentally engaged at all times. Whether we are at the plate or on the bench everybody is needed in order to have success.

Oct. 8th – Batting .300

Baseball is a failure sport. A good batter is deemed successful when he gets a base hit 3 out of every 10 at bats. The Christian life will never be one of perfection but we must be diligent and faithful. Prayer, giving, and sharing our faith are three disciplines of the Christian faith we fail at many of times. The aim is perfection, in which we fall short, however we can be faithful and pursue diligence in these three areas.

Oct. 22nd – Bases Loaded

What are you going to do when the pressure is on, fold or will we step up and hit the grand slam.

Nov. 5th – Running Home

How will we finish the game? Will we finish strong, giving all of our heart, and leave everything on the field. We must run and finish this life we are given with joy and excitement because of what is before us.

Pastor TitusThroughout the entirety of this chapel series we will be having a school-wide STEP UP TO THE PLATE CHALLENGE throughout the month of October. In recent news there has been an outbreak of the Ebola virus that hit Western Africa (in the countries of Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Nigeria primarily). As a school we are going to fundraise and try to send as much financial support to D-Rob’s friend Titus Davis, a pastor in Monrovia, Liberia, currently working with EFCA Reach Global. He is on the ground working with a team to build as many quarantine centers and bring in medical supplies and equipment to contain the outbreak as soon as possible. Please join us in praying for our students, faculty, and staff to STEP UP TO THE PLATE.
