Our chapel series to open the school year is a five-week series on Foundations and Feelings. This series reflects on the current status of our culture as a nation and the effect it needs to have on Christians. Same-sex marriage, selling aborted baby parts, sex-trafficking, rampant pornography. The time is now for Christians to take a stand as we know that a relationship with Christ is going to be the only lasting solution. Our lives need to have both “foundation” and “feeling.” We need to know the foundational truths of Christianity. We also need God’s heart – one of justice and one of joy. The question is, “what do we have to show?” More pointedly, “what do you have to show?” Or, following the quote, “If we were arrested for being Christians would there be enough evidence to convict us?”

Using Acts 3 and 4 as a backdrop in week one, Tonk focused on the opportunities God gives each of us to trust Him and step out in faith, expecting a great result. Through the lives of Peter and John we noticed that each of us can confidently take “risks” for God and enjoy the “rewards” of bringing people closer to Christ.

Then in week two, Tonk took us to a familiar passage in Luke 19:1-10 and recounted the account of Zacchaeus and Jesus. Tonk challenged the crowd to come down out of the tree and give your life to the King of Love. Junior Sarah Hadley gave a powerful testimony in the middle of Greg’s message!

In week three, Derek Robinson challenged students with the question, “Do you know the Truth?” D-Rob discussed how our faith rests in the unchanging Word of God.

We invite you to be a part of the next few chapels. On September 2, Jeremy Oliver will discuss “Do you know God’s heart?” Then Tonk will challenge students by asking the question, “What’s your plan this year?”

Parents are invited to attend chapels each week on Wednesday mornings at 9:09am in the Bradley Gym.
