Departments and Positions
David was born in Kansas, spent some early years in Columbus, Ohio, but grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Nyack College, during which he had the opportunity to study in the Middle East. He has received a Master of Arts in Church History from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, where he also was awarded the Professor T. B. Madsen Award for his thesis on the evangelical origins of the American University of Beirut. He comes to Valley after teaching for 13 years at Grace Prep High School in State College, PA.
David has chosen a career in teaching because of his desire to academically train students and spiritually disciple them. He loves to bring both humor and critical thinking to his classroom in an effort to help students choose a life filled with joy, curiosity, and an intelligent, engaging faith in Jesus Christ.
He is married to Chizuruoke, and has three daughters: Sorochi, ZaanuYa, and Maruchechi (each of their names come from the Igbo language). He loves sports and the outdoors, but will gladly come inside to play a Euro game. (Ask him about it, and you’ll never play Monopoly again!)
